Dutch and German grid operator TenneT has announced tenders for at least five offshore grid connections in the Netherlands and Germany, including the deployment of a new 525 kV HVDC system
with a capacity of 2 GW.
According to reports, the tender is mainly divided into two parts, one is to cover at least two projects in the IJmuiden Ver area of the Netherlands, which will be put into operation
in 2028 and 2029 respectively.
The other part will be the well-known BalWin1 and BalWin2 and BalWin3 offshore wind farm clusters, which will be put into operation
in 2029 and 2030 respectively.
The purpose of the tender is to bring the five wind farms to the grid, which will increase TenneT's transmission capacity from the current 8.
