Teijin Frontier Co.
, Ltd.
, the fiber and product transformation company of the Teijin Group, recently announced that it has developed a proprietary system for calculating the carbon dioxide emissions generated by the company's polyester fiber production process
.
It is reported that Teijin Frontier expects to eventually use the system to conduct a full life cycle assessment of its polyester fiber products
.
(The picture comes from Teijin)
The new system calculates carbon dioxide emissions based on data from Teijin production sites, comparing the difference in emissions between petroleum fibers and recycled fibers to quantitatively assess their impact
.
In addition, the system helps to identify which processes need to be improved to further reduce the environmental load and to consider better measures to reduce CO2 emissions
.
It is understood that Teijin Frontier has already started using the system to assess emissions from polyester filament and staple fiber production, and will gradually expand the scope to include woven and dyed textiles
.
Teijin plans to encourage partners to adopt the system
.
Teijin Frontier enhances its environmental value under the guidance of the THINK ECO® environmental initiative, including through eco-friendly factory management and development, green materials and products for applications ranging from apparel to industrial materials
.
Strengthen its contribution to the realization of a circular economy by implementing and further improving the new CO2 emissions calculation system
.
Governments are accelerating their efforts to achieve carbon neutrality in response to the sixth report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and the 26th United Nations Conference on Climate Change (COP26)
.
Teijin began to adopt products that reduce environmental impact, including helping consumers choose more environmentally friendly products
