Teijin today announced that it has signed a collaborative research and development project agreement with AEV Robotics (AEV) of Austral.
The agreement aims to create lightweight components and solutions for the next generation of transportation to enable future mobility solutio.
The components will use Teijin's advanced materials such as polycarbonate resin, carbon fiber and aramid fiber, as well as innovative structural component design composite technologies shared by Teijin and its group companies, including Continental Structural Plasti.
Teijin will also provide professional thermal management technology to help optimize weight reduction, thermal insulation and sound absorpti.
In addition, Teijin will apply the expertise it has developed to support the Solar Team at Kogakuin University in Japan's participation in the world's largest solar car ra.
AEV's modular vehicle system will undoubtedly be the basis for the next generation of automotive standards, meeting the "Well-to-Wheel Zero Emission" target set by Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (MET.
AEV is also developing an efficient electric vehicle platform and autonomous driving system to enable low-speed electric vehicle (LS-EV) driving for various fields such as medical, logistics and industrial as well as traditional transportati.
Through this joint development project, Teijin expects to continue to support the future development and transformation of society, especially by providing innovative solutions for automotive applications for advanced materials and structural design required for next-generation electric vehicl.
In recent years, electric vehicles have rapidly developed as a practical solution for reducing environmental load based on next-generation vehicle concepts of connectivity, automation, sharing and electrificati.
Furthermore, under the concept of mobility as a service (MaaS), the role of the car is changing and transportation will be viewed as a holistic servi.
At the same time, an increasingly aging society has led to increasingly serious traffic accidents among the elderly in Japan, inconvenient pedestrian traffic in rural areas, and problems such as traffic congestion, environmental degradation, and intensified urbanizati.
To this end, METI established the New Automobile Era Strategy Committee with the aim of strengthening the global competitiveness of the Japanese auto indust.
The division has established "zero emissions from well to wheel" as Japan's long-term national strategy to achieve the highest level of environmental performance globally, including eco-friendly processes for producing gasoline and electricity for automobiles by 205
AEV has developed some innovative ideas and construction options that major OEMs have failed to off.
Teijin will showcase AEV's modular vehicle system at the Automotive Engineering Exposition 2019 Nagoya from July 17-1
