Teijin, as a company deeply involved in the automotive industry, is investing in different areas of technology development and is committed to supporting the ongoing shift towards autonomous, shared and electric (CASE) vehicles and mobility as a service (MaaS)
.
To meet market demands for increasingly sustainable, safe and connected transportation, Teijin has been involved in a number of initiatives aimed at helping the automotive industry grow
.
In addition to Teijin's extensive expertise in materials and manufacturing, the company has comprehensive experience in designing and executing CASE and MaaS-inspired vehicles, including zero-emission, low-speed electric vehicles co-developed with Australian startup Applied Electric Vehicles
.
Teijin and Applied EV recently released the LS-EV, the product of a collaborative project they launched in 2019
.
In addition, Teijin is investing in more high-speed pursuits as a partner to the Envision Virgin Racing Formula E team, which is competing in the world's first all-electric single-seater racing series, the ABB FIA Formula E Championship
.
Since becoming a partner of the team in January 2020, Teijin is exploring opportunities to develop lightweight, high-performance automotive components to help expand the design freedom required for next-generation vehicles
.
These jobs also provide opportunities to increase the visibility of the Teijin brand in related industries
.
The Teijin Motors online site showcases many high-performance materials and advanced processing technologies
.
The PU_PA III concept car features a rear display made of Teijin's Panlite polycarbonate resin, treated with a water-repellent hard coating to protect the sensors from dust and scratches, and a steering wheel horn pad made of light-transmitting faux leather and door trims that combine a luxurious look with smart features that display information only when necessary
.
The website also features Teijin's multi-material battery case, which is made of lightweight composite materials to reduce vehicle weight and improve safety; the tires are made of Twaron para-aramid fiber, which combines an extra-large diameter with an ultra-thin rubber layer.
Combined, it is ideal for electric vehicles
