On May 4, 2016, SunPower announced that it had begun construction of a 9.
5 megawatt (AC) solar photovoltaic plant to provide power
to the California Department of Water Resources (DWR) in Los Angeles County, California.

THE PLANT IS ADJACENT TO THE PEARBLOSSOM PUMPING STATION SOUTHEAST OF PALMDALE, AND THE PV PROJECT IS EXPECTED TO BE OPERATIONAL
BY THE END OF THIS YEAR.

Veronica Hicks, head of the California Department of Water Resources, said: "This project is very important and will help us achieve our goal
of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 80% by 2050.

DWR will purchase solar power under the PPA

Howard Wenger, president of SunPower's business unit, said: "Solar is more cost-competitive than traditional energy sources and can help public institutions reduce the cost of
    electricity.

DWR will purchase electricity under a power purchase contract with SunPower at a cost-competitive
    price.
    DWR holds renewable energy certificates
    .

SunPower was responsible for designing and installing the SunPower Oasis power system
    .
Oasis is a fully integrated, modular solar power system for rapid and efficient deployment of utility-scale projects while optimizing land use
    .

The technology includes robotic solar panel cleaning capabilities, which use 75% less water than traditional cleaning methods and improve system performance by 15%.
