On May 25, Sumitomo Electric announced that a major U.
S.
power company (SDG&E) has signed a contract
for the largest demonstration test of an electric storage system in the United States in the field of flow batteries.

It is reported that this is the company's first overseas order
for laser flow batteries.
Sumitomo Electric will be commissioned
by Sumitomo Electric from NEDO, a new energy industry technology development organization.
