Recently, the website of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment announced the winning projects of the 2022 Environmental Protection Science and Technology Award, and the project "Development and large-scale application of key technologies for sewage pollution reduction and efficiency improvement in the refining and chemical industry" jointly participated by SUEZ, China National Petroleum Corporation and China University of Petroleum (Beijing) won the second prize of the 2022 Environmental Protection Science and Technology Award
.
According to reports, China's large-scale refining and chemical enterprises are mostly distributed in key sensitive areas with high environmental quality standards such as Linjiang, Linhai or adjacent urban areas, so that the sewage treatment of the refining and chemical industry has comprehensively shifted from meeting "standard discharge" to "ultra-low emission" and "recycling"
.
Solving the problems of water shortage and water environment pollution caused by the rapid development of the refining and chemical industry and ensuring the quality and safety of the water environment is a major task of China's environmental protection work, and it is also a major demand
for the green development of the refining and chemical industry.
Based on this, the project team worked closely to achieve the goal of efficient recycling of refining wastewater, combined independent innovation with introduction and absorption, and developed a technical route
for refining wastewater reduction and efficiency treatment that meets the requirements of ultra-low emission and high-quality reuse through key technical cooperation development, process innovation integration and systematic optimization.
The results of the project have been applied in the construction and upgrading of sewage treatment plants in five refining and chemical enterprises, with a total of 426 million tons of refining and chemical sewage treated, 134 million tons of fresh water saved, and 153 million tons of reused demineralized water.
The cumulative emission reduction of chemical oxygen demand (COD) was 353,800 tons and ammonia nitrogen was 14,700 tons, making outstanding contributions
to consolidating the achievements of pollution prevention and control in the refining and chemical industry.
The project has obtained a total of 40 national invention patent authorizations, 1 PCT patent authorization, 6 patent rights implementation licenses/transfers, and published 32 high-level journal papers, providing technical support
for standardizing the sewage quality control system and sewage treatment system of China's refining and chemical industry.
