On February 17, Teijin announced that it will invest 10 million euros to install a new fiberglass sheet molding compound (GF-SMC) production line at Benet Auto Parts
.
Located in the Milovice region of the Czech Republic, Benet is a Tier 1 supplier of composite parts for the automotive industry.
It was wholly-owned by Teijin in July 2019 and belongs to the Teijin Automotive Composites business
.
According to reports, this new GF-SMC production line will meet the needs of the automotive market for improved design freedom, productivity, cost efficiency and light weight, and Benet has received new orders from European and American automakers
.
Teijin said that as the automotive industry is moving towards the trend of the new four modernizations (electrification, networking, intelligence, and sharing), the automotive industry needs to quickly change its business model to meet the needs of the new generation of multi-functional, lightweight vehicles.

Teijin acquired Continental Structural Plastics Holdings (CSP) in January 2017 to become a Tier 1 supplier of automotive composites
