Chai Junlin's scientific research ambition became more and more determined with the deepening of learning, and he joined the "three advances" team of outstanding undergraduates, and under the guidance of teachers, he constantly strengthened the innovative application of theory in practice, and laid a solid research foundation
in sedimentology, reservoir evaluation and other directions.

When Chai Junlin studied the evolution of the material source system in the Jiangjiadian area of Huimin Depression, he found that the results of computational analysis for several months contradicted the general research
conclusions.
"What went wrong, I often meditate in the lab until the wee hours of the morning

" Chai Junlin recalled, "The teachers and senior brothers of our research group told me that scientific research should not be based on general conclusions, and often real innovation is based on
experimental results that are contrary to previous experience.
After dozens of designs and deductions, he finally found the key to the problem, made a breakthrough in establishing the source evolution model of the research area, and finally published a paper
in the core journal Journal of Sedimentology as the first author based on the research results.

Once, in the process of Chai Junlin's experiment, the equipment failed

Due to the epidemic, the engineer could not immediately enter the school for maintenance, in order not to delay the experimental process, he took the initiative to ask the engineer for advice, made video calls many times, and repaired the equipment under the guidance of the engineer, which did not affect the progress
of the experiment.
