ICT solutions provider Sparkle and Panama-based Trans Ocean Network have agreed to form a strategic joint venture in Panama to build an open landing and connectivity center
.
According to the plan, the new building, located in Panama City, will provide 3,200 square meters of colocation space
for more than 600 racks.
The Panama Digital Gateway will be integrated with Sparkle's global backbone – more than 600,000 kilometers of fiber across Europe to Africa, the Americas and Asia – and will also serve as a landing point for existing and upcoming submarine cables looking for a diverse entry point
to Central America.
By establishing a presence in the new hub, OTTs, carriers, financial institutions and enterprises will be able to benefit
from Sparkle's global connectivity services, including its global tier-1 IP brokering service, Seabone, and its capacity solutions, as well as access to other regional networks.
Elisabetta Romano, CEO of Sparkle, explained: "The development of infrastructure in the Americas is the backbone of Sparkle's strategic plan, which aims to strengthen its position in the telecommunications wholesale market while strengthening the digital solutions
it offers to enterprises.
The Panama Hub is a natural crossroads in Central America, a bridge between the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans, a strategic hub between North and South America, the construction of new submarine cables and the creation of an interconnected ecosystem
of participants.
