South Korean cable manufacturer LS Cable recently revealed that the company will continue to develop liquid-cooled ultra-fast charging cables in China and begin commercialization
.
With the standardization of domestic electric vehicle technology, LS cables will be seriously supplied in the future for ultra-fast chargers above 400kW, and liquid cooling will be used instead of the AC (air-cooled) method
of traditional fast chargers.
Ultra-fast chargers will also charge more than
twice as fast as fast chargers.
Due to fast charging at high voltages, charging cables generate a lot of heat
.
The liquid cooling method suppresses the temperature rise
of the conductor by circulating coolant within the cable.
In this way, even if the conductor size is smaller than the AC cable, more current can be transmitted through the cable, and the reduction in cable thickness and weight makes it easy for even the elderly to handle them
.
In addition, LS Cable reduces the risk of
failure due to coolant leakage by improving existing cooling methods in overseas products.
So far, European companies have dominated the liquid-cooled charging line market through patents, and manufacturers have had to rely on imports
.
The company hopes to obtain new patents through this domestic development project and improve the performance and quality competitiveness
of its charging cables.
"We have completed patent registration for the cooling method in the United States and Japan, and the patent is currently pending in Korea," said LS Cable, adding, "We are also working to commercialize
our products in major markets at home and abroad.
