The South African Wind Energy Association has asked the government to sign a PPA power purchase agreement to move forward with approved wind power projects
that have been delayed for three years.

CEO Brenda Martin said in an emailed statement on Wednesday: "The need to quickly end long-delayed PPA agreements is particularly important
for many South Africans who are at risk in industries experiencing greater uncertainty.

The deals are part of the country's energy ministry's plan, which has been put on
hold after state-owned power company Eskom refused to sign a power purchase contract.
Eskom is facing a tough financial situation and weak electricity demand
    .

The South African Wind Energy Association welcomed President Cyril Ramaphosa's cabinet changes this week, which included the appointment of Jeff Radebe as energy minister and Pravin Gordhan to oversee six of the largest state-owned enterprises
    , including Eskom.
The panel asked for a firm date to move forward with the three-year delay in wind projects
before March 31, when "key legal documents will expire.
