Recently, the South African government finally announced the latest development of 27 power purchase agreements (PPAs) that have been blocked from being postponed, and these agreements have been successfully signed

Earlier, utility Eskom postponed contracts, claiming they were not in the company's interest

Last month, two unions intervened in court, claiming the projects would affect jobs
at existing fossil-fuel power plants.
The energy minister said that although the court could not give a legitimate reason for not being able to sign the contract on March 13, the signing would be extended until the end
of the legal process.
The court chose not to support the complaint
on March 29.
The 27 contracts represent an investment
of 5.
6 billion pesos (approximately $4.

According to the energy department, these power purchase contracts will create more than 58,000 jobs
for South Africans.
There are also a number of developers experiencing contract delays, including Scatec Solar, which secured 258MW of solar capacity
in the country's fourth tender process.
