Solvay announced on April 7 that it has launched new UV, gamma ray sterilization stabilization technologies and antioxidant products suitable for short-wave ultraviolet (UVC) to enhance the stability of polymer materials
It is understood that traditional UV stabilizers are designed for long-wave dark spot effect ultraviolet (UVA) or outdoor ultraviolet (UVB) and are not optimized for UVC protection, because UVC is usually filtered by the earth's atmosphere
Sophie Poelmans, global market manager of Solvay Polymer Additives, said that in addition to the new UVC UV rays, Solvay's gamma stabilization technology can improve the resistance to gamma radiation of polyolefin plastics for medical devices, while imparting a high degree of whiteness to the surface.
In addition to this, Solvay has launched an innovative portfolio of antioxidants to promote stable polymer melt viscosity during processing and improve the stability of polymer materials in sterile medical applications
Poelmans said: "Solvay's stabilization technology can be an important part of polymer materials to improve resistance to degradation and production efficiency, and the company's advanced and unique light stabilizers and antioxidants can be used to curb the spread of viruses
