SOC has partnered with Subsea 7 to secure the first U.
S.
offshore wind project
.
This turnkey cable supply and cable installation contract for the Coastal Virginia offshore wind project marks the continued success
of Subsea 7's global renewable energy strategy in the United States.
The multimillion-dollar contract will see SOC and Subsea 7 operate in the Gulf of Mexico to perform turnkey supply and installation of internal array grid cables for the CVOW project, located 43 kilometers
from the U.
S.
East Coast.
The CVOW project includes the development of two 6 MW wind turbines on a monopile foundation that will be connected to the existing onshore grid
via submarine cables.
In addition to submarine cable installation works, SOC will provide related materials and services, including the supply of submarine composite cables, cable protection systems and related accessories, as well as post-installation termination, trenching and testing services
.
Project works will begin
immediately.
Offshore installation works are scheduled to begin in
2020.
The SOC will utilize some locally available vessels and resources, as well as those of the Subsea 7 Group
.
Project execution will be carried out by joint project teams from SOC and Subsea 7 to ensure technology transfer and development
of local knowledge related to offshore wind and other renewable energy projects to U.
S.
customers.
