On August 25, Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC) announced that its joint venture, SABIC SK Nexlene Company (SSNC), will further cooperate with South Korea’s SK Zhishin Company to expand the production capacity of the two companies’ plants in Ulsan and use NEXLENE technology to produce advanced Material Solutions
The plant, operated by South Korea's Nexlene, produces SABIC's COHERE brand metallocene polyolefin plastomer (POP), SUPEER brand metallocene linear low density polyethylene (mLLDPE) and FORTIFY brand polyolefin elastomer (POE)
SABIC said that this capacity expansion plan will be officially implemented in the second quarter of 2024 to meet the growing demand for NEXLENE-based polyolefin solutions in multiple differentiated high-end market segments
It is understood that the market demand for polyolefin solutions based on NEXLENE technology continues to grow, such as in multiple differentiated high-end market segments such as photovoltaics, new energy vehicles, footwear and advanced packaging solutions
Sami Al-Osaimi, Vice President, Polyethylene and Sales, Petrochemical Division, SABIC Corporation and Chairman, SSNC Corporation, said: "We are concerned with strong demand for customized and high-performance polyolefins in several important new technology markets, especially metallocenes.
