According to Sinochem News, Sinopec announced that China’s first large-scale shale gas field, Sinopec’s Fuling shale gas field, Baima block, the new report on proven reserves of shale gas passed the review of the Ministry of Natural Resources on December 9.

It is one of the important gas sources of China's Sichuan-East Gas Pipeline and an important resource foundation for Sinopec's "Gasification of the Yangtze River Economic Belt" operation

The Fuling shale gas field started construction in December 2012 and entered commercial development ahead of schedule in March 2014.
