Siemens Gamesa has been designated as the turbine supplier
of choice for 2.
64 GW offshore wind farms in the United States.
The offshore wind farm is the largest offshore wind project in the United States to date, Dominion Energy Virginia Offshore Wind, located on the coast
of Virginia.
In addition to supplying wind turbines, Siemens Gamesa will also provide long-term service and maintenance services
.
Under the agreement, the developer will select the Siemens Gamesa Direct Drive offshore wind turbine series, with the final number of units and turbine models still to be determined
.
All installations are expected to be completed
by 2026.
However, the agreement is subject to certain conditions, including Dominion Energy's final investment decision, government licensing and other necessary approvals
.
Once operational, the project is expected to provide enough clean energy to power 650,000 homes and reduce carbon emissions

This is another milestone agreement for the United States, as it aims to add 25 gigawatts of renewable energy by 2030, enough to provide clean, renewable energy
to about 12 million average households (10% of the total number of U.
S.
households).
