According to a report from the ICIS-MRC website in Moscow on May 31, Reuters quoted Royal Dutch Shell’s statement that the company will sell its 90,000 barrel-per-day Mobile in Alabama to professional refiner Vertex Energy.
Vertex plans to produce petroleum fuels and renewable diesel at the refinery after the transaction closes in the fourth quarter of 2021, but approval is pending.
Vertex will also purchase related logistics infrastructure and hydrocarbon inventories, including more than 3 million barrels of crude oil and product warehouses.
According to the two companies, Shell and Vertex will sign crude oil supply and product offtake agreements.
Vertex plans to produce about 10,000 barrels/day of renewable diesel and renewable by-products at the factory by the end of 2022, and increase to 14,000 barrels/day by 2023.
