Recently, Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) has issued bids for two 1.
5MW(AC) solar power projects with 0.
75MW/2.
5MWh battery energy storage systems in Jammu and Kashmir
, India.
The tender was issued by the construction agency Military Engineers Service (MES) for the design, engineering, supply, construction, installation, testing and commissioning
of two projects in Tangtse and Durbuk in the Ladakh region.
It also includes 10 years of operation and maintenance services
.
It is understood that the MES provides back-line engineering support
to the armed forces.
Due to the mountainous region's close proximity to the borders with China and Pakistan, the project is located at an altitude of about 3,000 meters and has temperatures ranging from -30°C to 30°C
.
According to the tender documents, the battery storage system will be interconnected with the local power distribution network and will allow maximum flexibility
in terms of voltage, frequency, phase imbalance and protection requirements.
The entire tender project will be awarded to a single contractor and the deadline for bids is August 23
, 2018.
Recently, India reached an agreement with local company Raasi Group and two research institutes to launch its first lithium-ion battery manufacturing plant
.
At the same time, under the government's recently announced new hybrid policy, hybrid wind and solar projects accept various types of energy storage technologies
.
