Saudi Telecom recently announced that the Saudi Vision Cable submarine cable system landed in Jeddah
for the first time.
The Saudi Vision Cable system, wholly owned by Saudi Telecom, will facilitate high-capacity connectivity to the northwestern region of Saudi Arabia through Neom before reaching Jordan
.
In addition, the system has four landing sites
in Jeddah, Yanbu, Durbar and Haq.
The system is 1,160 kilometers long and uses four pairs of fibers, each with a design capacity of up to 18Tbps
.
Olayan Alwetaid, CEO of Saudi Telecom, said the system improves the cost-effectiveness and flexibility of the unified fiber optic platform and provides access to all international fiber optic cables
at the group's landing stations and information centers.
"This achievement reflects our comprehensive strategy to diversify the Group's investment opportunities by promoting digital infrastructure and supporting Saudi Arabia's digital transformation," Alwetaid added
.
The cable will provide digital connectivity services to businesses and individuals between Saudi Arabia and continents by establishing regional digital hubs connecting continents around the globe, and help meet the needs of companies and customers
through an integrated digital ecosystem.
The new cable will be one of the submarine cables connecting hubs in the Middle East and North Africa, taking advantage of Saudi Arabia's strategic location, which will help strengthen investment
in international communications services and data centers.
