On November 2, Saudi Power invested 2,525 million riyals ($667 million) to design Saudi Arabia's first integrated thermal and solar power plant (ISCC) with a total installed capacity of 605MW, of which 43MW
of solar power generation capacity is available.
Due to the solar power generation capacity, the thermal and solar integrated power plant will consume 3-4 million barrels of fuel oil during the entire project life cycle and reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 4-50,000 tons
per year.
According to the World Bank, Saudi Arabia is currently the world's largest greenhouse gas emitter per capita, and energy demand is increasing
at a rate of 6-8% per year.
