Saudi Arabia has reportedly received bids from four consortiums to build a $500 million Saudi wind farm project

It is understood that the world's largest oil exporter is pushing to diversify
its energy sector.
The Saudi energy ministry said France's EDF Energies Nouvelles had the lowest purchase price for a 400 MW Dumat al-Jandal wind project in northern Al Jouf province, while French company ENGIE submitted the second lowest price
.
Saudi Arabia's ACWA Power and Italy's Enel Green Power are among other pre-qualified bidders for the country's first utility-scale wind energy project as part of
the government's reform plan to break up the oil kingdom.
The department added that the winning bid will be announced
on December 18.
The Saudi energy minister said in a statement, "The kingdom's first utility-scale wind energy project opens a new chapter
in our efforts to diversify our energy mix.
The development of Saudi Arabia's wind energy industry is an important part of
our broader industrial diversification strategy.

He added that the electricity generated by the project could supply up to 70,000 Saudi households

The Saudi National Energy Plan aims to increase the share of renewable energy to 3.
