The Japan Industrial Technology Development Agency announced on June 15 that it has developed a technology that can measure the potential of each cell (power generation element) in a solar panel without contact, and has successfully embedded it in a portable small measuring instrument
.
This is the research result of the evaluation and standard group of the photovoltaic power generation research center of the comprehensive research
institute.
The principle is to measure the external electric field
triggered by the potential inside the battery cell.
The technology for measuring potential without contact was previously used to measure weak static electricity in cleaning workshops, etc.
, and measuring instruments have also been commercialized
.
But this is the first time
it has been used to measure the potential inside a solar cell.
According to the release, Japanese measurement equipment manufacturers have used this technology to launch portable prototypes and have begun repeated test measurements
in millions of photovoltaic power plants.
Currently, there are problems such as unstable measurement values in the presence of noise such as rain, snow, and stains, and I intend to commercialize
these problems as soon as they are improved.
At the current manufacturing cost, the price of the measuring instrument is hundreds of thousands of yen, and it is estimated that it can be reduced
by mass production.
If the potential of the solar panel can be measured non-contactively, and the output power of the string (the series circuit of the panel) can be confirmed to decrease, the problem panel can be locked in operation without removing the panel
