According to the government's Energy Strategy 2020-2030 (draft), Romania plans to invest more than 22.
6 billion euros in its energy sector over the next decade, according to the Romanian Ministry of Economy.
Romania aims to meet 30.
7 percent of its renewable energy needs by 2030, up from 24.

today, according to a plan released for public discussion Wednesday, according to the Ministry of Economy.
Over the next decade, Romania intends to increase its installed energy production capacity by 35%, including 2,302 MW of new wind power capacity and 3,692 MW of new solar power capacity, thus ensuring greater energy independence
.
The strategic blueprint shows that higher energy production capacity will help Romania reduce energy imports from 20.
8% of estimated consumption in 2020 to 17.
8% in 2030, reaching one of
the EU's lowest levels of dependence on energy imports.
With regard to gas, Romania will focus on the development of the national gas transmission system on the Bulgaria-Romania-Hungary-Austria (BRUA) corridor and the Southern Romanian Gas Corridor
.
Romania plans to replace several coal-fired units by 2030 with gas-powered combined cycle units
and renewable energy-based units.
The strategy also envisages the construction of two more reactors
at the Chernavoda nuclear power plant, which is operated by a nuclear power company.
Currently, electricity generated through nuclear fission covers about 18 percent of the country's electricity production through two existing units in Chernaboda, and that share will increase to 28 percent
by 2035 by adding two more reactors, according to the plan.
