Chinese PV module producer Risen Energy announced it has begun construction of a 121MW Yarranlea solar farm project in Queensland
, Australia.
Queensland MP Patrick Weir, Toowoomba Regional Mayor Paul Antonio, Risen Energy Australia project development and investment director John Zhong and other guests attended the groundbreaking ceremony
for the project.
The project is located on 250 hectares of land and is expected to be completed
in March 2019.
Risen Energy will own and operate the completed facility, while also providing EPC services and module delivery
.
Once completed, the Yarranlea installation will be connected to the grid under the management of the national electricity market and provide clean energy
to Toowoomba and Darling Downs.
It will provide an average annual electricity generation estimated at 264 GWh
.
Zhong, Director of Project Development and Investment at Risen Energy Australia, said: "We highly value the joint development of the Yarranlea Project with the Australian Government and we are also proud that the Yarranlea Project is our first major EPC project in the country, which has also been awarded the development of integrated energy storage and the establishment of a dedicated energy storage area
on site.

Zhong added: "In addition to Queensland, we are also targeting other states in Australia, particularly Victoria, New South Wales and Western Australia
.
To facilitate the development of the project, we sent experienced experts to analyse our ongoing projects while preparing to develop additional power stations that we will own and operate ourselves, which we plan to expand further in Australia over the next five years with a target capacity of 1GW
