    Asahi Kasei has announced the development of the world's first innovative polyamide foam, a material called PA Foam that will significantly reduce noise and weight in automobil.


    The material consists of C-shaped or macaroni-shaped foam beads, which represent different properties:

    The excellent rigidity of the C-shaped beads makes them a great potential for structural applications, as well as for insulators, pipes, gaskets or other lightweight components in electric vehicle battery box.


    The macaroni shape, on the other hand, represents a high level of sound insulation and has great potential for automotive applicatio.


    The material also provides better interior comfort and is suitable for use in the roof and hood, or in the seat and floor structu.


    PA foams made from polyamides can be processed using a steam molding process on standard polystyrene molding equipment, resulting in a significant reduction in resin usage and cost savings in the production proce.


    Polyamides are characterized by high heat resistance, chemical resistance and oil resistan.


    The new PA foam will be exhibited at Foam Expo Europe in Stuttgart from September 10th to 12.
