At K 2022, the German company Kurtz Ersa will present its sustainable, more climate-friendly product – a processing system for EPS particle foam welding without steam, since the system does not use a steam power generation system or a Cooling tower, it not only saves water resources, but also reduces carbon emissions
.
According to reports, the new machine Wave Foamer uses radio frequency processing to make molecular chains vibrate under alternating voltage, and the heat generated by their mutual friction can be used for welding

Previously, plastic welding often required an external supply of steam, which meant that the water needed to be heated beforehand until it turned into steam, consuming carbon dioxide for the entire process
.
This "zero steam" plastic foam welding system is now used to produce foam parts of consistent quality, such as shock absorbers, sun visors and other automotive components
.
Its electromagnetic heating process can also be fine-tuned to better inject electromagnetic energy to handle previously unprocessable materials
.
Using the new process can better replace the new polystyrene material with recycled EPS material
.
Already 20 percent recycled EPS is used to make foam parts, and Kurtz expects to use the technology to process 100 percent recycled EPS

Wave Foamer adopts a new technology, and user enterprises need to replace the device to use it normally
.
However, Kurtz found in the survey that due to the investment of money and time required to replace equipment, most customers currently do not have equipment upgrade plans
.
“For customers, this is a shift in business thinking
.
Sustainability comes at a cost, but companies that adopt sustainable technology in time will be more likely to win the business world
.
With our new technology, we can reduce 90% of Energy consumption and 100% water consumption, the carbon emissions of the whole process can even be reduced by about 70%
.
" said Uwe Rothaug, Managing Director of Kurtz GmbH &
Co.
KG.
Uwe Rothaug said the plastics industry is making a huge contribution to climate protection and a circular economy; however, what the public is not aware of must become more visible, in line with the motto of "do good and talk about it"
.
The public must be informed in a broad manner using all available communication channels
.
Kurtz Ersa is Europe's largest manufacturer of soldering systems, developing solutions for the electronics assembly industry, with the world's largest product range for PCB manufacturing, including reflow, wave and selective soldering machines, rework and inspection systems, and soldereirng hand tools
.
In 2008, it expanded its product range and areas of expertise to include solder paste printers with integrated AOI
.
