Rays Power Infra, an Indian solar developer and EPC company, has entered the retail solar sector through its group company Rays Future Energy, focusing on photovoltaic power
generation for homeowners and small commercial establishments.
The company plans to open about 10 operating stores in its first year of operation and expand to more than 70 stores by 2020, covering major cities in India
.
Solar Development will open its first store
in Gurgaon at the end of November 2018.
It will sell a variety of solar energy products to customers, including solar modules, inverters, solar streets, garden lights, solar lights, etc
.
The RAYS Solar Experience Centre will also be set up to provide plug-and-play solar packs (2kW to 20kW)
for residential rooftops.
Based in Gurgaon with offices in Hyderabad and Jaipur, the company expects to start offering batteries and other energy storage solutions in the future, working with
medium-sized companies.
The company said it plans to take advantage of government subsidies
for rooftop solar.
However, according to the latest data from the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), the adoption rate of grid-connected rooftop solar remains disappointing, with only 1,223MW
installed by July this year.
The CEO of Rays Future Energy said, "India's distributed (rooftop) solar business has yet to witness its promised growth
.
The industry requires organized private participation from large corporations to provide quality energy solutions for the residential market to unlock the huge potential
that the Indian market has to offer.
We have decided to enter the B2C retail space and offer simplified energy solutions
to retail consumers through our Energy Experience Center.
”
Back in March, Indian PV module manufacturer Waaree Energies launched its own self-service rooftop solar kit, designed to reduce the time and manpower
required for standard installations.
