Qatar's state-owned oil and gas company Qatar Energy has agreed to move forward with discussions on a long-term LNG supply from Qatar to Germany, World Gas reported on March 22
Qatar Energy said in a statement on Sunday that it had been negotiating with German companies for years to supply liquefied natural gas from Qatar to Germany
This is mainly due to the long-term role of natural gas in Germany's energy mix and the apparent lack of the necessary LNG import infrastructure
The meeting on March 20 was attended by Saad Sherida Al-Kaabi, CEO of Qatar Energy, and Robert Habeck, Germany's Minister of Climate Action
Habeck confirmed at the meeting that the government has taken concrete actions to speed up the development of two LNG terminals
Accordingly, both parties agree that their respective commercial entities will re-engage and advance discussions on long-term LNG supply from Qatar to Germany
