Prysmian 525kV high voltage DC cable: environmentally friendly and recyclable
Prysmian Group, a global leader in telecommunications and energy cables, has made another major breakthrough
in the development of high-voltage DC cables.
The newly developed P-Laser525 kV HVDC cable is fully recyclable, with a larger transmission capacity and a reduction in costs of more than
10%.
According to reports, this high-voltage DC cable is named P-Laser because it uses the most advanced and innovative technology, which is more effective than traditional cross-linked polyethylene cable and reduces environmental impact
.
The production of this HVDC cable is done in a single and continuous process and does not require chemical reactions to achieve the long-term electrical performance of the HVDC insulation system, which greatly reduces the production time, thereby reducing energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions
.
Notably, this is the world's first high-voltage DC cable
that can be fully recycled.
P-Laser technology is fully compatible with current cable and assembly technologies, providing better electrical properties and material integrity
than traditional XLPE insulated cables.
From an energy efficiency point of view, P-Laser technology has higher thermal performance and thermal, which is to increase the transmission capacity under the same conductor size, so overall, per megawatt of power delivered, P-Laser high-voltage DC cable can reduce costs by about 10%.
Massimo Battaini, Senior Vice President, Energy Projects, Prysmian, said: "The development of the P-Laser HVDC cable is another technological breakthrough in HVDC transmission systems, which not only delivers more cables at lower cost, but also guarantees better environmental sustainability and higher electrical performance
.
This advanced technology will meet the needs of more customers for grid replacement upgrades and compliance government requirements to improve grid performance and reduce environmental impact, while reducing costs
.
