Global cable manufacturer Prysmann has signed two cable supply contracts
with Italian transmission system operator Terna.
Specifically, the first contract, worth 50 million euros, is for the development of a 150 kV high-voltage AC power cable system
between the Zuel and Somprade substations in the province of Belluno.
According to the plan, the installation of this transmission system will be completed in 2020 in order to service the 2021 Alpine World Ski Championships
in Cortina.
The second contract, valued at €26 million, is aimed at improving the performance and reliability of the transmission system in southern Italy for a 150 kV high-voltage AC cable system, with an option of another €26 million
.
According to reports, the cables for both projects will be produced
at Prysmian's factories in Piña, Italy, Pignataro Maggiore and Gron, France.
