On October 25, 2021, PPG announced the expansion of its coatings offering for wastewater treatment facilities
.
The expanded product portfolio includes solutions for a range of wastewater management processes, including collection, primary and secondary treatment, sludge treatment and disinfection
.
According to PPG, customers can choose from a comprehensive range of coatings that provide the best corrosion resistance based on the environment (immersed or atmospheric), the substrate being protected (concrete or steel) and specific performance requirements and chemical resistance
.
The expanded product portfolio will be suitable for aggressive underwater concrete, PPG RAVEN, PPG AQUATAFLEX coating systems and exterior and interior steel tanks, pools and infrastructure, among others
.
"As a result of our recent acquisition of VERSAFLEX and its Raven lining systems, PPG is excited to offer wastewater infrastructure customers a broader range of coating solutions for use throughout the water, wastewater and manhole remediation industries," U.
S.
& Canada Protection and Juanjo Ardid, President of Marine Coatings and Vice President of PPG, said, "Wastewater treatment plant operators, engineers and contractors can gain access to proven coating products, backed by PPG's extensive technical support, application expertise, specification tools and distribution network.

"
While all PPG wastewater coating systems are designed to resist aggressive corrosion and provide long-lasting performance, each system is formulated for specific end-use requirements
.
These include:
PPG Raven 405 High Build Epoxy Coating: Provides heavy-duty protection and broad chemical resistance, especially to hydrogen sulfide (H2S) gas, for challenging concrete submersion applications such as wet wells, digesters and manholes
.
PPG AquataFlex three-component range: Combines the chemical resistance of epoxy, the flexibility of polyurethane and the fast curing of polyurea for concrete substrates that are subject to structural movement or require quick return to service, such as filter basins, clarifiers and storage tank
.
PPG Raven 755 Cementitious Resurfacing: Repairs deteriorating concrete as a first coat in systems with PPG Raven 405 or PPG AquataFlex series coatings for manholes, wet wells, filter basins and water heads
.
PPG SIGMASHIELD® Series: Offers high abrasion and impact resistance for steel dip applications due to its ultra-high membrane structure and wide range of application thicknesses
.
PPG NOVAGUARD® 890 Novolac Epoxy Liner: Excellent resistance to a wide range of chemicals and solvents, including H2S, for direct metal contact applications
.
PPG AMERCOAT® Interior and PPG AMERLOCK® Exterior Epoxy Coatings: Provides versatile, surface-resistant coatings for atmospheric steel applications in tanks and basins
.
PPG supports its portfolio of wastewater systems through a technical services team that assists with project design and product specification to ensure recommendations are tailored to specific circumstances
.
