Recently, PPG announced that it has reached a strategic agreement with Li'an Dong Chemical Co.
    , Ltd.
    (OSC)
    .

As an important part of the agreement, Li'an Dong Chemical, located in Taiwan, China, will act as a sales agent to sell selected grade PPG silica products to tire manufacturers in the Asia-Pacific region

The selected grade products involved in the agreement include PPG HI-SIL low/high specific surface area silica, and PPG AGILON high-performance modified silica
    .

These products can provide support for the sustainable development of tire manufacturers, including reducing the rolling resistance of the tread compound and improving its wear resistance; improving the efficiency of rubber mixing and reducing the emission of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) from the manufacturing process; Increase the amount of natural rubber in tires to improve wear resistance and tear resistance, and support the use of bio-based materials

PPG Hi-Sil is one of the earliest silica products used in tire applications, mainly for rubber reinforcement
    .

The product portfolio includes low specific surface area materials for improving the traction and hysteresis characteristics of winter tires for non-tread applications, and high specific surface area materials for improving tread wear and rolling resistance

As an important part of PPG’s highly sustainable product portfolio, PPG Agilon’s high-performance silica products are based on a chemically modified precipitated silica platform, aiming to help customers expand the “magic triangle” of the tire industry-improving Fuel efficiency, traction and wear resistance
    .

In addition to reducing rolling resistance to improve vehicle fuel economy, and reducing VOCs emissions during tire mixing by more than 99%, PPG Agilon silica products can also increase traction to improve handling, especially in wet, Under snowy or icy conditions
