Poly Labs, a Lewiston-based polymer manufacturing company, has struck a deal with Bose, a well-known audio equipment maker, to produce earphone-canceling parts for the milita.
Poly Labs said in a press release that it will take over the noise-cancelling polyurethane foam headphone pad business from Bose, after acquiring the intellectual property and production rights, to use it in a military headphone li.
Under the agreement, Poly Labs will immediately begin supplying replacement ear pads to Bose's.
Poly Labs has been producing military ear pads for companies in Framingham, Massachusetts for over 15 yea.
The Lewiston-based manufacturer was formed in 2020 when a group of Maine investors, led by Wyndham-based Anania & Associates, acquired the 88,000-square-foot production facility of plastics maker Jones & Vining, equipment and intellectual proper.
Specifically formulated for the military, it is designed to provide comfort, protection and advanced acoustic properties for maximum sound attenuation, according to a press relea.
The agreement enables Poly Labs to streamline production and supply spare parts directly to customers around the wor.
"This is a significant growth opportunityfor Poly Labs," said Poly Labs CEO Sarah Morris.
