    Polish refiner PKN Orlen and Canadian power producer Northland Power have launched a tender process to find contractors
    for the onshore grid connection portion of their 1.
    2 GW Baltic Power offshore wind project.

    During Friday's conference call, project partners said they needed onshore cables, onshore substations and overhead lines to connect the wind farm to Poland's national grid
    .
    They will select an experienced contractor and sign an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) agreement
    covering the entire project.

    Interested parties will be able to submit expressions of interest by 14 September, while binding offers will be sent to bidders
    by mid-March 2022.
    The list of preferred bidders will be announced
    in August 2022.

    Work under the EPC contract will involve the construction of all components, including overhead lines, delivery of all necessary equipment, installation and commissioning, as well as design and technical analysis

    5 km onshore cable will be laid by underground single-core AC cable with an operating voltage of 220 kV or 275 kV

    Construction of offshore wind farms in the Baltic Sea is scheduled to start in 2023 and be completed
    in 2026.
