[Plastic] "Plastic Shopping Bag" National Standard Soliciting Comments

The revision of the national standard " Plastic Shopping Bag " organized by the National Technical Committee for Standardization of Plastics and related universities, research institutes, testing institutions and key enterprises has been submitted for approval.

According to the draft for approval, the revised standard is applicable to films made with traditional plastic resin as the main raw material, plastic shopping bags made by heat-sealing or bonding and other bag-making processes, and also applicable to composite plastic and other materials.

The draft for approval revised the definition of plastic shopping bags as "made from general-purpose plastic resin as the main raw material, or made from a combination of plastic and other materials, with a supporting structure, and used for dressing in sales, service, and other places).

The biggest change is that the draft for comments adds two terms, plastic shopping bags for direct food contact and plastic shopping bags for non-food direct contact.

The standard specifies the dimensional deviation of the thickness, width and length of plastic shopping bags.

The requirements for physical and mechanical properties are to make plastic shopping bags more durable.

In view of many consumers who usually discard used plastic shopping bags and use them as garbage bags, they put too much emphasis on whether strong and durable will cause waste of production materials and increase production costs.
