[Plastic] National Energy Group's first fully biodegradable plastic

In order to effectively promote the green, low-carbon transformation and high-quality development of the modern coal chemical industry through the development of clean, high-end, and differentiated products during the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, on April 14, the National Energy Group held the 2021 Coal Base in Shenzhen.

It is reported that the 50,000-ton/year biodegradable plastic polyglycolic acid (PGA) demonstration project will be completed and put into production by the end of this year.

"The production of PGA with coal as a raw material can transform the fuel properties of coal into raw material properties, and the carbon dioxide emissions of the process are only 1/3 of that of conventional plastics.

In Yan Guochun’s view, the plastic-to-steel ratio, an important indicator of the development level of a country’s plastics industry, is only 30:70 in my country, which is less than the world average of 50:50, and far less than developed countries such as the United States’ 70:30 and Germany’s 63.
