Oman and Kuwait to build a new joint venture refinery
On April 10, Oman Petroleum Co.
and Kuwait International Oil Company signed a number of energy cooperation projects with a total contract value of $7 billion
.
Among them, the cooperation projects cover oil refining, oil storage, oil and gas development, etc.
, and the two sides contribute half of
the capital.
Under the contract, the two parties will build a 900-hectare refinery in Oman's Dulqem Special Economic Zone with a refining capacity of 230,000 barrels
per day when put into operation.
The two sides will also build eight oil depots, each with a capacity of 550,000 barrels
.
Ashit, executive chairman of the Kuwait International Oil Company, said that the cooperation between the two sides in the oil and gas field is expected to become "a model for cooperation between large enterprises in the Gulf countries"
