    Peru's mineral exports recover rapidly in June, copper exports up 31% month-on-month

    Peru's gold exports increased by 86%, copper exports by 31% and zinc by 136%
    in June compared to the previous month, according to new data released by the Peruvian Ministry of Energy and Mines.

    Gold, copper and zinc account for 50% of the country's total metal exports, and according to the Ministry of Energy and Mines, mining accounts for more than
    60% of Peru's international trade, despite the economic slowdown caused by the covid-19 pandemic.

    In its latest report, the government agency noted that the positive results in June reflect the gradual and safe recovery of mining operations from May onwards and the recovery
    of global markets.

    Copper production reached 180,792 tonnes in June, up 40.
    8% from previous months, while gold production rose 49.
    7% compared to May to 5,877,891 grams

    On the other hand, zinc production increased by 313.

    Electricity consumption at mines also reveals a resurgence
    in the mining industry.
    In May, electricity consumption fell by 30.
    6% compared to the same period last year, but by June, electricity consumption was only 12.
