Pearl Polyurethanes Initiates R&D Work on Continuous Sandwich Panel Insulation

Dubai-based materials portfolio company Pearl Covestro Polyurethane Systems LLC (soon to be renamed Pearl Polyurethane Systems) has launched a new R&D program in the Middle East to develop an improved continuous sandwich panel concept with the aim of continuously bringing groundbreaking breakthrough new product
.

The goal of the program is to investigate new solutions for continuous sandwich panel production in order to achieve an overall improvement of up to 20% in insulation performance compared to the current industry standard
.

Part of the research will develop alternative blends of pentane and other additives using greener fourth-generation liquid blowing agents
.

The initiative framework calls for solutions in six main areas: sustainability, improved fire safety, improved insulation, durability, economy and ease of use
.
In the past, the company has supplied polyurethane foam portfolios for several iconic projects in the Gulf, including The Palm, Downtown Dubai and Ski Dubai in the Mall of the Emirates

Initially, new products will be developed for the Middle East, followed by other international markets
.

The development of each new product family will follow an established R&D timeline of six months or more, divided into four main phases: design process, product development, product trial and final product delivery
.

The transaction is expected to close in mid-June 2021

The newly independent company will be renamed Pearl Polyurethane Materials Portfolio GmbH and has confirmed a long-term supply and technical service agreement with Germany's Covestro to ensure consistent supply to existing and new customers
