PEACE refers to an open neutral submarine cable system connecting Europe, Pakistan and East Africa, with a total length of 12,000 km, which will connect France with Pakistan by 2021 via a landing point in the city of Marseille via a route from Europe to Asia, and through a short route to the Indian Ocean, through Kenya and the Kenyan city of Mombasa, and in the future expand to South Africa, The total reaches 15,000 km
.
Through this agreement, Orange will provide and operate a cable landing station in Marseille to connect it to one of the city's main data centers and make it a gateway to the European network, even to the Americas, thanks to the transatlantic network
accessible from France.
Jerome Barre, CEO of Orange, said PEACE is a major investment for Orange as it will provide greater route diversity, improved connectivity security and guarantee support
for capacity increases in all regions of the Indian Ocean region, especially Reunion and Mayotte.
