Recently, Denmark's Orsted Energy will invest $30 billion in green energy
in 2025.
It says it is trying to lead the global shift
from fossil fuels to green energy.
While renewable energy technologies are now able to compete with traditional energy sources, the industry remains vulnerable to changing political winds as governments around the world debate how to combat climate change
.
Orsted Energy, the world's largest offshore wind developer, said it will have 15 gigawatts of offshore wind capacity by 2025, compared with its previous target of 11-12 GW, and plans to double capacity to more than
30 GW by 2030.
One of the key drivers will be the expansion of the emerging US market, which recently made two acquisitions to gain a foothold
in onshore and offshore wind.
While U.
S.
President Donald Trump this week rejected his own administration's predictions of severe economic damage from climate change, many states have set ambitious goals for sourcing energy
from carbon-free sources.
So far, however, the impact on Ostride's business has not been negative
.
Orsted Energy is also very focused on its development in Taiwan, which has attracted investment in renewable energy technologies and has become a key battleground
