Cities, councils and businesses around the world have united to call on automakers to increase production
of zero-emission vehicles.
Organizations around the world are calling on automakers to provide zero-emission vehicle production
The Zero Emission Vehicle Challenge was launched by Climate Group and C40 Cities, with support
from California, New York City, Paris, EDF Energy, LeasePlan and Unilever, among others.
The project aims to enable governments and organizations around the world to use their purchasing and policy influence to accelerate the adoption
of low-carbon vehicles globally by enhancing production to meet growing demand.
The Climate Group has asked automakers to express a willingness to work towards the ultimate goal of zero-emission vehicles, pledging a percentage
of clean car sales by 2025.
Helen Clarkson, CEO of the Climate Group, said: "It's time to talk about ending internal combustion engines and accelerating the shift
from vehicles that pose health risks from emissions to vehicles that are increasingly contributing to climate change.
We want car companies to do more to help us achieve our goals
