Brazil's electricity industry regulator Aneel announced this week that the country plans to open a tender
for 7,152 kilometers of transmission projects on December 20.
The tender will be distributed in 13 states, with a total of 16 targets
.
The Government estimates that the tender process and the resulting developments will attract approximately $1.
6 billion in investment
.
The construction of the transmission project must be completed
within 48 to 60 months from the date of signing the concession contract.
Aneel also added that in addition to transmission lines, the tender will have a conversion capacity
of 14,829 MVA.
The tender also includes bids previously held by Brazilian power company Eletrosul, the regional arm of
Brazilian electricity company Eletrobras.
The company lost its existing contract
due to failure to reach an agreement on the transfer to Shanghai Electric Group Co.
, Ltd.
