NTT Facilities introduced demonstration equipment
for HVDC transmission systems at the Computer Center at the University of Texas at Austin.
A trial operation ceremony
was held on the 25th.
15% energy
savings compared to before.
From 2008 to 2012, NTT facilities collaborated with the New Energy Industry Technology Development Organization (NEDO) to conduct research
on energy conservation and environmental burden reduction in data centers.
Austin has also received a commission from NEDO to begin a trial run
.
The HVDC transmission system reduces the number of times AC power supplied externally supplied by power companies is converted into DC current for machine operation, improving the overall power efficiency
.
This experiment carried out at Austin makes it possible
to set up photovoltaic power generation systems to meet the high-voltage DC transmission system and provide DC 380V.
Based on the results of this test, NTT Facilities will develop HVDC transmission systems in
the U.
S.
, Europe, and Asia.
