Statkraft, Europe's largest renewable energy producer, said it has placed an order with Nordex Group to supply seven N100/3300 turbines
for Ireland's Kilathmoy wind farm.
The contract also includes a premium service agreement
for 20 years.
The 23.
1 MW "Kilathmoy" wind farm is being built
in County Kerry, on the border with Limerick in southwest Ireland.
The turbine's high power generation capacity combined with favorable wind speeds on the island results in highly competitive energy costs
.
Work is about to begin with the infrastructure of the wind farm, and the first turbines will be installed
in the summer of 2019.
The Kilathmoy wind farm project will be fully operational
by the end of next year.
In 2012, Nordex Group built the 52.
5 MW Baillie wind farm for Statkraft and installed 21 N90/2500 wind turbines
in Scotland.
Under the Kilathmoy order, the company is now building its first wind farm
in Ireland for that customer.
For Statkraft, this is the first renewable energy investment project
on Green Island.
Nordex SE's civil society organisation said: "We are delighted to be working with Statkraft on the Kilathmoy project, their first in the Irish market
.
We look forward to a successful collaboration on this project and we hope this is the first of many partnership opportunities as Statkraft continues to grow
in Ireland and further afield.
