According to foreign media reports, sports brand giant Nike recently announced that it will build a 150,000-square-meter European Logistics Campus near Antwerp, Belgium
.
This warehouse can fully cover Nike's e-commerce, physical retail and wholesale business
in 38 countries.
Nike describes the campus as "the most advanced centralized distribution network" and aims to help Nike accelerate its commitment to a sustainable supply chain
for the future.
Nike said the new distribution center is built according to LEED, the world's most influential environmental assessment standard
.
LEED standards provide a framework
for the company in planning, construction, maintenance, and operations.
The European Logistics Park will be 100% powered by renewable energy, including wind, solar, geothermal, hydroelectric and bioenergy
.
Among them, six groups of 150-meter-high wind turbines in the park generate enough electricity to meet the electricity needs of 5,000 households, while solar panels cover an area equivalent to
three football fields.
In addition, the park has developed river, railway and road transportation
.
Nike says 99% of its inbound containers are transported by water (non-land), which will reduce the number of truck shipments by 14,000 per year
.
The company also uses robotic cranes to load and unload goods
.
The warehouse itself is a scaffold structure, which reduces material waste
compared to the reinforced concrete structure of traditional buildings.
95% of the waste generated in the park can be recycled, and the pedestrian paths around the park are made from
recycled shoe materials.
In addition, smart automatic LED lights will significantly reduce electricity bills
.
To ensure biodiversity around the park, Nike also bees and sheep
in the park.
