Recently, the UK's National Infrastructure Commission (NIC) urged the government to seize the golden opportunity to develop renewable energy, abandon nuclear power projects and switch to cheaper renewable energy
.
The proposal is part of the UK's first National Infrastructure Assessment and is actually a study
of how the country's infrastructure must adapt and evolve in the coming years.
The country's energy system was a key consideration in the assessment
.
The NIC, established by the former Chancellor of the Exchequer, apparently made it clear that by 2030 at least half of the country's electricity will come from renewable sources
.
NIC says that referencing its own modeling, it can achieve additional costs
for consumers.
It claims that the average consumption bill for all energy consumption can be kept at the same level
.
A low-carbon system by 2050, but only now is the right decision
.
NIC claims that the UK will build on the success of the next few years, with plenty of room
for renewable energy projects to grow.
