On May 9, 2016, NextEra Energy Resources, a subsidiary of NextEra Energy, announced the commissioning of its 6.
8MW ground-mounted solar photovoltaic array in Klamath County
, Oregon.
The PV project, which includes 21,964 solar tracking panels, is located on
former Weyerhaeuser industrial land.
The PV plant is expected to generate enough electricity to power 1,200 households, and construction is expected to begin in 2015, employing more than 100 construction, safety and power workers
throughout the project.
Pacific Power signed a 15-year PPA with the plant, which may be extended for 2-5 years
.
Todd Andres, Regional Business Manager at Pacific Power, said, "This is currently the largest solar project in Oregon, USA, and we are proud to provide energy
to our customers.
